The Appreciation Supper at The Guildhall – 21st April 2016
This was a first both for me and for the Guild and it proved to be a highly entertaining and informative evening with a very relaxed atmosphere. Sandwiched as I was between two Clerks it turned out to be the best seat in the house being informed about a host of interesting facts about the Guilds; their traditions and foibles.
The singing of the Grace was perhaps less enthusiastic than that of the musical accompaniment whilst the ceremony of The Loving Cup got everyone involved.
Our very own Clerk was on hand to proffer black marks to all those that didn’t make the grade and failed in any respect of the customs from the ceremonial clapping, dinner conversations, passing of the port and many more.
All in all it was a thoroughly entertaining evening and gets my vote that it should be re-run. My guest for the evening was hugely entertained and it was a great way to introduce the entrepreneurial light hearted feel of the Guild whilst retaining and representing the traditional aspects.
