RNIB Entrepreneurs’ Showcase and Reception

On 15th June, around 50 guests met at the RNIB HQ to learn more about how the RNIB is empowering visually impaired people, to encourage enterprise. The Guild of Entrepreneurs is keen to build a relationship with the RNIB, to share knowledge and experience and encourage entrepreneurialism.
Attendees were interested to hear how visually-impaired guests had adapted their skills to cope with day to day tasks and were then treated to a truly inspirational jazz performance by a visually-impaired band
High profile guests (including Lesley-Anne Alexander CBE, CEO of RNIB; the Fashion Designer behind “Making Lemonade”; Lord Colin Lowe; and Entrepreneur, Kate Jolly) all gave speeches. We particularly enjoyed hearing from Joanna Beckwith-Miller, a partially-sighted Chef, who gave a fascinating insight into her technical skills, the challenging logistics of the kitchen and the need to keep it tidy! Jo’s company, Concept Catering, in Birmingham, presented an outstanding selection of finger food.
There was also a guest appearance from Freeman Gregg Wallace, of Masterchef.
