Let’s Get Quizical

As 2019 begins and within the Guild we start planning and looking forward to another year of events, minds turned back to our last quiz night. Thanks to the wonderful organisation of Pippa Watmough we once again had a fabulous evening. Even if there was doubt cast over the result.

Pippa shares her own memories of the evening…

“Hot on from the success of our Inaugural Quiz, the Guild of Entrepreneurs hosted their Second Quiz kindly sponsored by Trowers & Hamlins on 17 October.  The Triviality Tankard – hard-won by our Clerk and his team at the Inaugural Quiz – was once again up for grabs.  Unfortunately, the Clerk’s Team was unable to attend and thus a new winner was destined to be crowned.

The evening was a sell out and tensions were high in the ante room as the teams gathered to compare strategies.  Although, tensions were somewhat higher in the Quiz room as the organisers mastered the toughest question of all – how to make the connect the powerpoint presentation to the projector…

The Quiz was ably hosted by our Quizmaster, Mr Paul Eyres, with rounds on general knowledge, famous people, music and a special City of London round to challenge our knowledge of the City and Livery traditions.  Trowers put on an enviable spread, oiling the wheels of our entrepreneurial brains with much wine and food.

In the end, the best team won.  That being mine!  Riding above any shouts of “fix” from the crowd, our team proudly collected the winners’ champagne and the Triviality Tankard found a home for the next few months.

Everyone involved would like to extend a huge thanks to Trowers & Hamlins for both their ongoing sponsorship and their enthusiastic participation in the Quiz.  We look forward to meeting our future challengers at the next Quiz!”
