Guild Welcomes its new Honorary Chaplain

At the conclusion of evensong on St Ethelburga’s Day (11th October) 2018, it was the great privilege of the Master Entrepreneur, Mr Lee Robertson, to swear-in the Reverend David Parrott as the Guild’s new Honorary Chaplain. The Entrepreneurs’ chaplaincy has been vacant since the Reverend Bertrand Olivier’s promotion to Dean of Montreal in February this year, and Fr David’s swearing-in marks the first step towards the Guild’s adoption of the church of St Lawrence Jewry next Guildhall in November.

The Clerk hastened from the organ loft and strode to the lectern to declaim the Court’s decision. The Master then asked Fr David to affirm his acceptance of the terms of office, and then to pledge himself to the service of the Guild. The new Chaplain answered boldly, and, to the obvious delight of both parties, the Master presented the Chaplain’s badge of office and bade him welcome.

The Hon. Chaplain to the Guild of Entrepreneurs holds office at the Court’s pleasure or until resignation. The Ordinances of the Guild provide that the Honorary Chaplain shall ‘provide such pastoral and liturgical support as the Court may require’.
