The Clerk, Duncan Simms
Duncan Paul Simms has been Clerk to the Company of Entrepreneurs since February 2015, and Chief Executive of the Company of Entrepreneurs Trust since its establishment in 2016.
Prior to this, he spent more than a decade managing sales and manufacturing accounts for the 300-year-old court tailors Ede & Ravenscroft. In this role (supervising work with the Royal Family, Orders of Chivalry, the House of Lords and the UK and Commonwealth Judiciary) Duncan worked extensively in both Westminster and the City of London, as well as other principal locations in the UK and overseas in Central and West Africa. His clients included many Livery Companies, as well as Mansion House, Guildhall and the Old Bailey.
He set up his own consultancy business in 2014, as a lecturer and advisor on contemporary and period legal and clerical costume for television, film and theatre.
In 2009, Duncan helped lead the enfranchisement of a notable apartment block in South-East London. He remains a Director of the freehold company, and manages a small family property portfolio in London and Buckinghamshire.
He had experience of international voluntary service as a decorated Scout and Venture Scout, and was twice commended as a Special Constable with the Metropolitan Police. A boy church chorister, he was awarded a Choral Exhibition and read law with ecclesiastical law at the University of Greenwich, graduating LL.B (Hons) in 2003.
He is married to Sabrina and has one son (Hector, 6). Duncan is a keen vegetable gardener and cook, and an enthusiastic singer, skier, rower, and knitter.
