Barbara, Lady Judge CBE, 1946-2020
It is with great sadness that we have to advise of the passing of Lady Judge on the 31st August 2020.
Lady Judge’s international and multi-disciplinary career was a beacon of achievement, and her influence across so many professional fields is hard to overstate. Her many successes gave her a platform to powerfully advocate women’s rights and promote the support of special educational needs. Her commitment to service and charity was unswerving, and chimed wholly with the professional and philanthropic ethos of the Livery. She was an immediately recognisable figure in the City of London, both in its industry and its civic governance.
Barbara Judge was the first Honorary Freeman Entrepreneur, admitted in September 2018 at a ceremony at Bakers’ Hall. Her citation spoke of her long service to enterprise and charity, coupled with the service of her late husband, Sir Paul, as Foundation Master, Master and Sponsoring Alderman of the Guild of Entrepreneurs. It was especially poignant to have admitted Lady Judge in the Ward of Tower – of which Sir Paul was Alderman for ten years.
Barbara Thomas Judge died of pancreatic cancer on 31st August 2020. She is survived by her son, Lloyd Thomas.
