A huge Guild welcome to our new Freemen!

Not to be outdone by our first “virtual” installation in April, we were delighted to welcome four new Freemen to the Guild by way of video conference, on Friday 25th September.

We were delighted to welcome:-

Freeman Yusuf Ijtaba-Garcia

Yusuf started his entrepreneurial Journey at the age of 25.Patenting a mobile software process, he decided to go for broke and start his own business. Sadly, he did actually go broke!

Undeterred, however, and armed with new contacts and the valuable lesson that only failure can teach, he gave entrepreneurship another go at the age of 29. Today Yusuf is a successful Telecom entrepreneur, his little bedroom start-up has grown into an international telecom group with a multi-million annual turnover. Yusuf is a computer science graduate from the university of Essex, attributes his non-conformist thinking to his unique family makeup and is particularly interested in helping young people from deprived areas on their entrepreneurial journey

Freeman Sarah Jewell MBE

Building on her experience in the insurance industry – particularly in private medical insurance – Sarah Founded an international insurance brokerage. A few years later, she founded and ran an international medical insurance company, with a truly global reach from offices in the Far East and Europe. The company had an enviable reputation for service excellence in the provision of medical insurance to professional sports people, musicians, actors and high-net-worth individuals, in addition to its corporate clients.

Sarah sold both companies, the latter to a major US insurance company, three years ago.

A true entrepreneur, she has used her business and creative talents to found an investment and production company specialising in the support of new plays and musicals. She is the Founder and past committee member of the Association of International Medical Insurance Providers, and Sarah was awarded an MBE in 2015 for entrepreneurship in the medical insurance industry.

Freeman Stephen Roach

An innovator and entrepreneur in financial services, Stephen established one of the UKs very first Independent Financial Services Companies and was one of the Founders of The National Association of Security Dealers and Investment Managers. He created one of the first FT Listed Private Managed Funds. Through this he became the Fund Manager to The Western Counties Managed Investment Fund, Royal Life and Skandia. He then moved on to establish one of Europe’s first Financial Services “Networks” providing regulatory, compliance and business development facilities for Independent Advisors, Solicitors and Accountants. Having developed this with a modest capital budget along with an exit strategy implemented from the outset. The Company eventually sold for a reported figure of £26 Million.

Stephen remains fully engaged as a businessman and entrepreneur, having founded and run Kensington Asset Management since 1999 and has set up a series of companies under the umbrella of ONYERSports Ltd – including the stylishly named ONYERBIKE, ONYERSURF, and ONYERTOES Stephen has been a Freeman of The Worshipful Company of International Bankers since 2014

Freeman Amanda Rosewarne

An entrepreneur in educational certification, Amanda founded the CPD Standards Office, which is now the UK’s leading authority in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training accreditation. With an academic background in occupational and industrial psychology, Amanda successfully intertwined the results of a scientific study into CPD and lifelong learning, into a new business concept for an innovative form of accreditation. Over the past decade, the company has grown into a global community, with accredited providers in over 45 countries.

Amanda is passionate about educational opportunities being available to all in society, regardless of age, stage or background. She is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Leaders Institute, and is Vice Chair of the PARN CPD Forum.

In true “ virtual style” our new Freemen were awarded with “ Virtual Freedom Certificates” and plans are being made for them to be welcomed in person by the Master and the Guild, sign the Freedom Register, and be presented with their Freedom Certificates as soon as circumstances allow.
