28 and 29 July – Masters Weekend – A weekend at The Defence Academy, Shrivenham hosted by Major Tom Mouat, MBE

The Master’s weekend is soon upon us (28th July 2018) and we guarantee you won’t want to miss it!

In recognition of The Master’s links with the armed forces and as a celebration of the Guild’s links with the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, this special weekend at the Technology School and the Defence Simulation Centre at Shrivenham will give you access to, and practice of, world class facilities used by the armed forces from around the world. Major Tom Mouat MBE MSc PGCE psc ato sim will also host a black tie dinner on the Saturday night in the Victory Dining Room, Joint Services Command & Staff College.

We’ll be staying B&B at the luxurious Cricklade House Hotel Restaurant and Spa which has a pool and tennis court for the sporting types. You could, if you so desire, choose to extend your stay on the Sunday with some Spa treatments or a round of golf too – these will need to be arranged directly with the hotel and are not included in the GOE package. www.crickladehotel.co.uk. The Defence Simulation Centre improves the quality of training, saves the Forces money and protects the environment. And, you’ll have access to it. You’ll be given an overview of simulation, modelling and wargaming before taking part in a collaborative simulation designed to illustrate specific learning points to do with communication, graphical fidelity, command and control, functional personality types and return on investment. We’ve been promised great fun! We will also have access to the Technology School which plays host to a range of working exhibits including a tank which has been cut in half!
