Here Be Dragons! St Ethelburga’s Day visit to the College of Arms
Freemen Entrepreneurs and their guests are warmly invited to a private tour of the College of Arms – the official heraldic authority for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and much of the Commonwealth.
As well as being responsible for the granting of new coats of arms, the College maintains registers of arms, pedigrees, genealogies, Royal Licences, changes of name, and flags. The heralds, besides having ceremonial duties, advise on all matters relating to the peerage and baronetage, precedence, honours and ceremonial as well as national and community symbols including flags. If you have ever wanted to know more about the weird, wonderful and ancient art and lore of heraldry, then this is your chance!
Our guide is the most senior of the historic heraldic officers: Garter Principal King of Arms, David White, who will delve into the mysteries of battles, beasts, chivalry, and colour and tell the story of the College, its officers and patrons.
This exclusive guided tour reveals treasures and treats not usually on public display, and concludes with refreshments served privately for us in the ancient College.
This event is limited to just twenty, so please click HERE to email the Clerk and reserve your places. Please let the Clerk know if you have any special access or dietary requirements.
